Atlanta Metropolitan State College is a member of the Georgia Film Consortium (GFC). The Georgia Film Academy (GFA) supports the GFC, which is a unique-in-the-nation, state-wide collaboration of institutions of the University System of Georgia, Technical College System of Georgia, and Independent institutions that offer professional courses in film, television, digital entertainment, Esports, and game development.
The Georgia Film Academy is a professional organization, a unit of the University System of Georgia, which is committed to leading and advancing the entertainment arts industry and its workforce in Georgia. The GFA promotes rigorous professional training and supports opportunities for union-covered film and television production craft internships and placement in creative industries, apprenticeships, and jobs to build a permanent and sustainable industry in the state. On behalf of the USG, TCSG, and their institutions, as well as private higher education institutions in Georgia who choose to use its resources, the GFA is dedicated to the development of both Georgia's workforce and the industry which will utilize it.

Eligible students may apply for the competitive GFA Film & Television Production Internship course where they learn and hone their craft while working on the crew of a professional production.
Students in Atlanta Technical College non-credit GFA courses may register for GFA courses through Eventbrite without applying through the formal college admissions process. There is no requirement to submit transcripts or for placement testing.

The College of Coastal Georgia is proud to partner with the Georgia Film Academy (GFA) to provide students with hands-on training in film and television production. The GFA is a state-wide collaboration between the University System of Georgia (USG), the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), and entertainment industry leaders to provide professional courses in film and television production, digital entertainment, esports, and game development.
The GFA was created by state leaders to meet the educational and workforce requirements of Georgia's thriving entertainment industry. The GFA higher education program provides extensive professional training and may lead to union-covered jobs within creative industries.
The College offers a Certificate in Film and Television Production through the GFA. Courses are conducted off-campus at locations around Georgia with many classes held in Savannah or Atlanta. The Certificate in Film and Television Production may be combined with the Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies or the Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.

Dalton State College’s Department of Communication has a unique partnership with the Georgia Film Academy (GFA)—one that allows you to learn at state-of-the-art facilities in the metro Atlanta area while earning a two- or four-year degree.
This is an exciting time for the film and TV industry in Georgia. Our climate, beautiful and varied settings, airport connections to major cities, and tax incentives have put Georgia in third place behind Canada and California as locations with the most film and TV production in North America, and fifth place internationally.
Since 2017, dozens of Dalton State students who want to pursue a career in the film industry are earning an 18-hour certification from the GFA while still enrolled as Dalton State students. These 18 hours will apply to the B.A. in Communication or Associate of Arts in General Studies, Film Pathway.
